ISC - I participated in my first International Solving Contest organized by Chessbase India. I attempted to solve old ISC problems - mate-in-2 puzzles, helpmates, and selfmates as part of my preparation. I realized it was going to be a tough challenge. And, on the day of the competition it proved right. I got just 1 correct answer out of 12. There were 2 sessions for Category 2 of 2 hours each. And, we were given 6 problems for each session. Overall an unforgettable experience!
Freestyle Chess - Chessbase organized another fun day of chess at the newly opened chess club in Lower Parel. We got about 23 players. We were given a new position in each round. I won 3 games out of 5.
Rapid FIDE Rated tournament - 5 points! The tournament start was delayed due to local trains block which caused late arrival of players. Started off with a draw but in the 3rd game I blundered a piece in the opening itself. I managed to get a piece back but eventually lost the game. In the 5th round I played Scotch as white but lost the plot and opponent exploited the weakness brilliantly! However, I managed to score 3.5 out of 4 in the last four games, which made the entire tournament a satisfactory experience.
